The Paris Apartment by Lucy Foley follows Jess Hadley, a young woman who arrives in Paris to stay with her half-brother Ben, only to find his upscale apartment empty, his belongings left behind, and his neighbors strangely evasive about his whereabouts. As Jess digs into Ben’s recent life, she realizes the residents of the opulent building are all hiding interlinked secrets, from a glamorous penthouse couple to troubled tenants and a watchful concierge, none of whom want her asking questions. Trapped in a maze of hidden stairwells, locked cellars, and shifting alliances, Jess races to uncover what happened to Ben, navigating privilege, corruption, and danger in a claustrophobic, Hitchcockian mystery without revealing the final twists.
This really is only getting 3 stars but I'm bumping it up because it's set in Paris, and well, it's Paris. Enough said. This mystery/thriller was wild and had so much weird shit in it, I still remember it pretty vividly. Kinda dark, kinda weird and all set in Paris. I did really like it. But it also has some cheesy elements, Verity vibes. But it's a quick, entertaining standalone if you love a mystery/thriller!
