By:Charlotte McConaghy
Wild Dark Shore by Charlotte McConaghy is an atmospheric survival novel set on a remote island near Antarctica, where a caretaker family is trying to protect the world’s largest seed bank as the sea rises and the island begins to fall apart. When a mysterious woman washes ashore during a violent storm, the family takes her in, and the story becomes a tense mix of isolation, grief, family secrets, and the question of what people owe one another when both nature and the future feel fragile.

Bleak, salt-soaked and quietly devastating. The island does most of the emotional work and the family does the rest. It takes a hundred pages to find its footing, and once it does I read the remainder in two sittings.
