Book Lovers is a smart, funny contemporary romance about Nora Stephens, a sharp‑edged New York literary agent who agrees to spend a month in the small town of Sunshine Falls with her younger sister, Libby, hoping the break will help them reconnect and maybe soften Nora’s big‑city edges. Instead of getting the classic small‑town makeover Libby imagines—complete with flirty bartenders and cozy bookstores—Nora keeps running into Charlie Lastra, a grumpy editor she once clashed with professionally, who is back home helping his family. As Nora juggles her demanding career, Libby’s mysterious “bucket list” for the trip, and her growing, reluctant attraction to Charlie, the summer forces her to question the stories she tells herself about who gets to be the heroine and what a happy ending can look like for a woman who loves her work, her city, and her family in equal measure.

I came for the small-town setup and stayed for two people who are very good at their jobs and very bad at admitting what they want. The sibling relationship carries as much weight as the romance, which is rarer than it should be. My only complaint is that the town itself never becomes more than a backdrop.
